TECH TIP TUESDAY - DRIVE SLIDES - A SUPER COOL CHROME EXTENSION

Our Lower School is rethinking how teacher communicate with parents. This year, LS teachers plan to use the "Bulletin" feature on our LMS to share classroom updates, pictures, and videos! In order to help make this change as easy as possible I created a Newsletter Guide detailing two methods for embedding content from Google directly onto the home page of each teacher's course page.

One option is to embed an entire Google Doc containing the text and images the teacher wants to share. This is a great option if teachers are already creating their newsletters in Google Docs and is similar to how many of our teachers post their homework grids [STEP BY STEP DIRECTIONS for Embedding a Google Doc].

The second option is to type text in the bulletin section of the course page and embed a Google Slides presentation to share several pictures. This a a great option for teachers who have several pictures to share, or want to share a video or two! Teachers can even copy and paste the text if you have typed it in another word processor [STEP BY STEP DIRECTIONS for Entering Text and Embedding Google Slides Slideshow].

While I prefer the look of the second option -  I was very aware that it could be quite laborious to create a Google Slide show with each slide containing one image - especially for teachers who would want to share several images. THAT IS, UNTIL NOW!!!
I just came across a super cool Chrome Extension that makes creating a Google Slides presentation out of images in a Google Drive Folder in ONE EASY STEP! DriveSlides by Alice Keeler [who is amazing by the way] "allows you to create a Google Slides presentation out of images in a Google Drive folder. Simply open a folder in Google Drive that contains JPG, PNG or GIF images. Press the DriveSlides Chrome extension icon to open the Google Slides presentation with your images automatically added. The Slides are created in your Google Drive, within the same folder." HOW COOL IS THAT!? I just tried it and it could not be easier! I cannot wait to share this awesome tool with our teachers!?

What super cool Chrome extension have you recently discovered?
